Type 2 diabetes

There are broadly two kinds of diabetes, type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Insulin is responsible for the transportation of glucose within the body through cells. In type 2 diabetes, due to a decreased cell response to insulin, this function is impaired, which leads to unmanaged blood sugar levels in the body. Some common causes of type 2 diabetes include genes, being obese or overweight, insulin resistance and physical inactivity.

Warnings signs to look out for

  1. Thirst: Due to low sugar levels in the body, it might end up losing an unhealthy amount of water due to frequent urination. This results in an increased thirst and if left untreated, it might result in the body getting severely dehydrated
  2. Fatigue: Due to the insufficient levels of sugar in the body, one might end up experiencing an unhealthy amount of tiredness and fatigue which can affect their lifestyle to great extents.
  3. Hunger: Due to inadequate glucose in the bloodstream, the body makes up for it from the glucose absorption from food. This uses up energy which makes hunger pangs among type 2 diabetes patients more frequent.
  4. Compromised eyesight: This is a common sign of type 2 diabetes among patients. The blood vessels in the eyes might end up getting damaged due to an increased level of blood sugar. Blurred vision is a common symptom. If not treated on time, a complete vision loss is also possible.
  5. Impaired wound healing: The circulation system of the body can be damaged due to high sugar levels in the body.  This can result in impaired wound healing which can increase the risk of developing infections.

Bottom line

Different bodies react to diseases differently. There are other signs that you may want to look out for such as weight loss, frequent urination, hand and foot pain. Make sure you consult a professional if you experience any issues. Furthermore, stay hydrated, consume a balanced diet and do not forget to keep your body physically active.
