Cycling linked to lower risk of type 2 diabetes

From wiat.com

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Cycling is a great way to exercise, stay healthy, keep your heart strong, help you lose weight and avoid type two diabetes.
A recent study has linked cycling to a lower risk for type two diabetes.
“Because cycling is an aerobic activity, it’s really great because it helps to make you more sensitive to insulin. So, if you’re pre-diabetic or have insulin resistance, this type of activity would be great in reducing not only your risk for developing diabetes but actually improving your blood sugars as well,” said diabetes expert Dr. Mary Kellis.
The researchers looked at older men and women who cycled and discovered that they have a 20 percent lower risk for adult onset diabetes, type two, than those who never got on a bicycle.
Cycling also helps those who already have diabetes.
